It’s not about being busy or productive.
It’s intentionality that will bring you the success you desire.
(I am not sure that “intentionality” is a word – but we are going to go with it anyway.)
It’s amazing how the busier we are, the less productive we can actually be.
Most people tend to think that being busy equates to greater output and success. But the reality is that when you find yourself in a state of busyness, you are most likely less intentional as to what you are actually doing.
And we can be super productive, but if it’s in areas that are not aligned to who we are or what we want, well, then it’s quite the wasted energy.
When we are immersed in busyness, our actions become a combination of aligned choices, but a whole heck of a lot of MISALIGNED ones because we are just reacting.
And when we’re constantly fluctuating between choices that are congruent to who we are and our zone of genius, and choices that aren’t, it’s the equivalent of taking:
- two steps forward two steps back
- two steps forward one step back
- three steps forward, four steps back
You get the picture.
As I read about successful entrepreneurs who have created million-dollar empires, one of their top secrets is that they actually work LESS yet earn MORE.
And this is because they got really intentional about who they were working with, what they were doing on a daily basis, the services, and products that they were offering.
They set up their business to complement who they really are, and how they best operate in the world. Then learned to outsource (or even toss) the rest.
I am totally guilty of falling into the trap of “unintentionality”.
As an Alchemist, I love transformation. I have quite the butterfly brain, and fall trap to the shiny object syndrome. I love to learn and so I can get really busy with learning new, exciting things, but not really DOING.
At soul-level, I am a spiritual teacher and word girl. I can draft a ton of content, and create a ton of courses on all kinds of subjects. (Sorry, I don’t do short-and-sweet very well.) So it’s super easy for me to lose focus, and just be busy flittering around.
Knowing all this about myself gives me the ability to stop and really think before I jump on a new idea, create a new program, or invest in another mentor or course.
Just because I am good with content, doesn’t mean that I should be putting ALL of my ideas out there. It can lead to confusing messages, and really scatter my energy jumping from one subject to the next.
Stopping to be more intentional is a LEARNED and PRACTICED trait. You kinda have to be intentional about getting intentional.
I know it sounds silly, but it’s not something we are accustomed to doing.
Since moving from Miami Beach to Annapolis, something that I’ve gotten more intentional about is my message.
Overall, it’s been about a 5-year journey for me as I’ve fully transitioned from the traditional therapy world into the intuitive consulting I am doing today.
But it was a journey, a letting go process, and I’ve recently come to realize even more that while I’ve worked with people around anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief, it really isn’t where my zone of genius lives.
I am a purpose and gifts girl. I am good at reading souls to help other professionals get super clear about their own purpose and strengths.
I help people create meaning and understanding from areas in their life that they are stuck, where they are misaligned so that they can make the needed adjustments and move forward. So I am letting go of any topic that doesn’t fit under this umbrella.
Does this mean that I won’t share tidbits about health or love? Not at all.
My story is an integral part of how I got to where I am today. But it all falls under the desire to live and work my purpose and be in alignment so that I can manifest the awesomeness of what I want.
Sometimes we have to make adjustments to our health or relationships as these areas can impact our business. It’s ALL connected.
I challenge you to think about where you may be busy, but not very intentional.
- Where are you saying yes, but you really mean hell no?
- Where are you overextending yourself?
- And where are you working in areas that maybe you are good at, but are not really within your zone of genius?
Make some adjustments and take a few steps forward.
