My goal is to one day have my own line of Soul Wisdom planners that are designed to help people organize, create flow in their day, and accomplish tasks based on their primary energy center and how they naturally operate at soul-level.
My soul comes from a long lineage of organizers and planners, so culturally I LOVE organizational systems and tools. I swear I came out of my mother’s womb with a pack of highlighters and color-coded sticky notes.
So yes, I love planning, sometimes too much because it can be a bit of a time-suck for me. I also drive my husband bat-shit crazy because I am always “straightening” things out and re-organizing the dishwasher after he puts dirty dishes in. (Just so you know…you can fit in A LOT more dishes if you strategically organize them!)
What I discovered by doing readings for my clients is that planning and organization is a very personal thing, and success with it strongly depends on your soul-level strengths and how you are energetically designed.
This is why you see a variety of messages and woes around planning. Here are some I’ve heard from my clients:
- I am lazy because I can’t stick to a planner.
- I’m so disorganized; it’s amazing I get things done.
- I should be more organized but can’t seem to do it.
- I have a planner but still feel like I’m all over the place.
- Every year I get excited about a new planner, but by February its collecting dust on my bookshelf.
- Every week I jot down my goals but never look at it after that.
- I am super organized but can’t get anything done.
- Planning is boring but if I don’t do it, I’m lost.
If you have said to yourself any of the above, most likely part of the problem is that you don’t know HOW you plan. You are trying to fit yourself into a mold of how you “think” you should plan.
I have found myself experimenting with different planners, trying to find the one that closest meets my needs. Fortunately I know what I am looking for, but haven’t found the “perfect” one. I realize I will need to create my own to truly get what I want.
My goal to develop a line of planners will most likely take a little while as it wont’t be a “one-size-fits-all” solution. I will need a team of people to help me make this project come to fruition. So it is right now on my “beginning stages” project list.
Anyhoo…
If you’ve already worked with me, you know your primary gift / energy center. If you haven’t and are called to get to know yourself in a deeper way, feel free to schedule a consult call with me.
Meanwhile, here is my evaluation of some of the planners I am familiar with or have used myself, and who I believe it would be good for based on primary energy.
Please note, some of the links below may be affiliate links, but there are a TON of planners out there. My goal here is to just give you a little suggestion as to what to look for.
Divine Compassion Souls
You LOVE working 1:1 with people and being involved in community events. You also kinda hate technology, or know you aren’t that great at it, so the standard paper day planner with time slots works for you where you can pencil in your appointments for the day.
Divine Communication / Self-Expression Souls
You have a ton of words and thoughts rummaging through your head. A planner that has plenty of room to write ideas, notes… basically do a brain dump on a daily basis will work well for you.
I personally used the Passion Planner this year but got the Panda Planner for 2019. Both offer larger-sized versions that have plenty of writing space for whatever. If you are more visual, the Passion Planner provides space to draw mind-maps which helps to organize all your brilliant ideas.
Electronic planners can also work well, but again, make sure there is plenty of space to write. I love Things because I can create projects with notes and to-do’s. It might just be an OSX app, but you can get the gist and find an Android version.
Divine Power Souls
You guys hate planning. It makes you feel constricted. However, it is important to have SOME organization with a general idea of what you want to accomplish over the week.
I recommend Danielle LaPorte’s planners (if you like a more spiritual, journal-y, “pretty” style) because they don’t have a time layout; rather you get a smaller text area for each day of the week and can just write in a few tasks.
Otherwise, a basic weekly calendar would work just as well. Or just keep a Google / iCal calendar to remember specific appointments and be done with it.
Divine Creation Souls
You might be drawn to bullet journaling. It allows you to “create” your own calendar and you can track your habits, especially money habits. That will totally excite and motivate you.
Divine Order Souls
You need a planner that is “pretty”. Yes, it’s important to be functional too, but aesthetics will be important, otherwise you won’t want to use it.
“Pretty” can be very subjective, so don’t think it has to be all floral or sparkly or anything. Do your own version of pretty. But you do like order and organization so make sure it has space to write down your goals, keep track of daily appointments, and daily to-do’s. You can use electronic or paper.
You may also be drawn to bullet journaling because you can make your own pretty calendar.
Divine Love / Healing Souls
You don’t love technology, and aren’t always so good at it, so a paper planner is best for you. Because you love to be in relationships, a calendar that lets you keep track of your daily social events and business networking is a good one.
You also might love to journal or do a lot of “channeling”. The Desire Map daily planner might work well for you.
Divine Truth Souls
You are “see-ers”, so you want a planner that allows you to see the big picture and/or is visually appealing. You guys are great at looking at the whole and determining what parts are missing, aren’t working, or need to be added/tweaked.
The Passion Planner (see the Divine Communication section) with space for mind-mapping would work well for you as you can set a big goal first and then visually lay out all the deets.
But an electronic version will also work, as long as you can get a good visual layout. If you are more of a list with bullets person, Workflowy is nice because you can drag and drop and have different levels.
Divine Wisdom Souls
You are a person of very few words, or at least very concise expression, so you don’t need a lot of writing space. Keep it simple. A basic planner works just fine either paper or electronic. Check out the recommendation under the Divine Compassion section.
