I had a bit of an a-ha moment the other day when I was scrutinizing (or I should say working my energetic diagnostic mojo) as to why my business was not taking off in the direction I wanted it to.
My train is moving in a forward direction, but I would love for it to take a left turn on the alternate track. I have been putting things in place for a left turn, but my damn train just wants to go straight.
I have the clarity I need (which is usually the #1 hangup), the systems in place, the outline drafted, and am working my self-expressive superpowers, but I am still not getting the results wanted. Poo.
As part of my morning routine, I spend a few minutes visualizing what I want. I picture the house I want to buy, me sitting out on the lush patio reflecting on my awesome clients, the trips I am taking, luxuriating in first class, and whatever else is going to give me a motivating, warm-fuzzy boost for the day.
But it dawned on me, that not once did I picture what I would SPECIFICALLY be doing, in detail, in my business. I visualize all the things that I could get as a RESULT of my business, but had no mental image of what my business looks like!
Yea, I had my outline on paper, but I was not visually in practice, in the state of DOING in my mind.
My visualizations were not in alignment with what I wanted to create, not directly anyway.
While I had the clarity on paper of what I wanted, I was not SEEING myself in this new direction.
Duh!!
Don’t get me wrong, the warm-fuzzy stuff is great. But if I can’t picture and FEEL myself on my newly desired track in business, my train is going to keep going straight.
A quick disclaimer…. Don’t get caught in the “how” vortex.
This is not about you knowing and visualizing the exact HOW. You don’t have all the “how’s” right now, and that’s totally fine.
It’s about you being able to see yourself taking detailed actions that support you in your new direction. You want your brain (and the Great Spirits Above) have a clue as to where your train needs to go.
Take a look at what you are visualizing. Is it congruent with what you want to create?
